At Avant, Michael is responsible for sourcing and executing new investment opportunities, strategic partnerships, and fundraising. With over 13 years in institutional private equity and family office investment management, he was most recently Vice President and CIO at Crowe Capital Management, with prior roles at AEW Capital Management, Partners Group (SWX: PGHN), and Hunt Companies.

He has led multidisciplinary teams in executing $4.2B in real estate transactions across multiple strategies and managed a national portfolio valued at $11.8B, including 34,000+ housing units.

Currently, also serving as Managing Director at Vantage Capital Investments, Michael oversees the firms real estate investment initiatives. He has published with the Urban Land Institute (ULI) on climate change and is active in both ULI and the National Multi Housing Council (NMHC). Michael holds an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management, dual BAs in Economics and Philosophy from Boston College, and a Real Estate Finance & Development Certificate from MIT’s Center for Real Estate.

He resides in Houston, Texas, with his dog Maverick, and enjoys golfing, fishing, scuba diving, and traveling.

Bo Nichols manages Avant’s portfolio of investments and spearheads operational execution.

His duties include asset allocations, assessing and mitigating risk, fundraising, and driving the overall performance of the firm's investments. Bo ensures that Avant's investment strategies are aligned with long-term growth objectives, while maintaining a robust focus on operational efficiency, risk management, and investor returns.

Throughout his career, Bo has served as Director of Investments for a family office, managing a $1B portfolio and has directly deployed over $228.8M in capital commitments and as a private equity portfolio manager, responsible for a $10B diversified alternatives portfolio. Prior to joining Avant, Bo served as a consultant on a variety of transactions across commercial real estate, life sciences, machine learning and data science, technology, and entertainment for early stage investors.

Bo holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern and BBAs in Finance, Accounting, and International Business from the University of Oklahoma. He lives in Atlanta with his wife, two children, and an over-exuberant golden retriever.

At Avant, Gaelan Rommes is responsible for operational infrastructure, financial planning and analysis, and our investor reporting. He keeps his focus on long-term performance and has a passion for all things data- and quant-driven. Gaelan currently lives in Sun Valley, Idaho with his wife and two children.

Prior to joining Avant, Gaelan served as CTO for Crowe Capital Management and as an independent investment consultant for private family offices. Even prior, he worked for Compass as Director of Marketing, where he managed their technical infrastructure and product development, creating the systems used for multi-national real estate sales used today. Notably, he developed CRM systems used by Brightdoor and Salesforce for real estate investment.

Gaelan currently serves as CIO for Global Income Investments where he oversees all asset management and new investment activities.

He also serves as Managing Director for Vantage Capital Investments and guides the development and strategic direction of private investment products and consulting for family offices. Gaelan holds an MBA from the University of Washington Foster School of Business, and degrees in Architecture as well as Digital Media and Development from the University of Oregon.
